THE HAWKS AND LADYBRAND VW CLUB JOIN VUMANI CENTRE FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN TO CELEBRATE MANDELA DAY In the spirit of “It’s still in our hands”, members of The Hawks: Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, together with the Ladybrand VW Club, spent their Mandela Day with children at Vumani Outreach Centre for Vulnerable Children in Ladybrand. The day is dedicated to bringing joy, care, and support to children in need, in line with Nelson Mandela’s call for 67 minutes of service. MEC ELSABE ROCKMAN PLANTS 1000 TREES IN LADYBRAND AS PART OF MANDELA DAY COMMEMORATION The Free State MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Elsabe Rockman is in Manyatseng, Ladybrand to lead a mass tree planting initiative and handing over of the donations to two centres housing differently abled children as part of the Mandela Day Commemoration. Her tree planting initiative is running concurrently with the official handing over of the donation and food parcels to Tshepong and Ikaheng Centres which is the brainchild of Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality Speaker, Cllr Thabo Mokoena and Mantsopa Local Municipality (MLM) Mayor Mamsie Tsoene.
MANTSOPA COUNCIL ADOPTS RISK MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FOR 2025/26 FINANCIAL YEAR
The Mantsopa Local Municipality Council has adopted the Risk Management Implementation Plan for the 2025/2026 Financial Year during a Special Council Sitting held at the Manyatseng Council Chamber in Ladybrand.
The adoption of the plan forms part of Council’s commitment to strengthening good governance, accountability, and service delivery in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act - MFMA.
As part of National Treasury Key Performance Areas, the Risk Management Implementation Plan is an imperative and essential working tool for the institution.
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE HOSTS SUCCESSFUL DAIRYRISE FARMERS DAY AT ARTHUR PITSO STADIUM, LADYBRAND The Department of Agriculture, in partnership with its strategic stakeholders, such as ARC-LNR and Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs today hosted a well-attended DairyRise Farmers Day at Arthur Pitso Stadium in Ladybrand. The day brought together commercial and emerging farmers, livestock owners, and agri-stakeholders from across Mantsopa Local Municipality (MLM) and surrounding areas to share knowledge and practical solutions. The key focal points of the day were to mention but a few: effects of Poisonous Plants on Livestock, Veterinarians educated farmers on identifying toxic
THABO MOFUTSANYANA DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY SPEAKER, CLLR THABO MOKOENA IDENTIFIES TWO CENTERS IN LADYBRAND FOR MANDELA DAY COMMEMORATION The Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality Speaker, Cllr Thabo Mokoena, has identified two centers for differently abled children in Ladybrand that will benefit from this year’s Mandela Day Commemoration under the theme “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity.” In line with the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s call to dedicate 67 minutes to community service, Cllr Mokoena will lead alongside Mantsopa Speaker, Cllr Mvuyo Ncwada and Mayor Mamsie Tsoene, the District, Local, and Community leaders in giving back to the most vulnerable.

The meeting was co-chaired by Ms Sylvia Lemao from the Department of Rural Development and Mantsopa Local Municipality Communications Manager, Pule Lechesa and it received briefin on plans for the upcoming Mandela Day Commemoration, Vumani Funraising Walk, Mantsopa Spiritual Conference, to be held in Mantsopa Local Municipality.
DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NATIONAL LOTTERIES COMMISSION HOST INFORMATION SESSION ON FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES. The Department of Social Development, through the Acting Community Development Supervisor, Mr. Nemaorani, in partnership with the National Lotteries Commission, hosted a National Lottery Funding Information Session for NPOs, CBOs, and community projects in Mantsopa Local Municipality. The session took place in Ladybrand, Manyatseng at Arthur Pitso Stadium Hall and educated local organizations on how to access National Lottery funding for projects that address poverty, GBV, youth development, food security, and community empowerment.
